PicoWay laser treatment is a revolutionary new technology which will transform your skin! It treats an extensive range of skin conditions and the lasers ultra-short pulses target the signs of aging.
How Does it work?
PicoWay is a picosecond laser system. Each laser pulse lasts one trillionth of a second. Exposing the skin to these ultra-short pulses of energy shatters pigmented cells without damaging surrounding tissue. The body naturally eliminates these broken cells, reducing acne scars, wrinkles and dark spots. This encourages collagen and elastin, which results in smoother and more youthful skin.
How safe is this treatment?
The laser creates a “photo-acoustic” effect rather than a “thermal” (heat) effect. This is important because, unlike older technology, there’s no risk of the skin overheating.
How many treatments do I need?
This depends on your concerns and objectives. During your appointment, we will evaluate your skin, listen to your worries, and suggest an individual treatment plan.
What is PicoWay Skin Rejuvenation Treatment Like?
Each session takes roughly half an hour. We always protect your eyes from the laser with safety eyewear (laser/IPL). Patients close their eyes throughout the treatment. Patients describe the laser as tiny pinpricks on the skin and there may be some mild discomfort. However, this treatment doesn’t hurt. A calming cream is administered directly after treatment, together with a chemical-free sunblock.
After treatment, expect to appear red for the first 24-48 hours. By the second to third day, redness is negligible. There are no wounds in the skin, therefore there is no healing process. The following 6-8 weeks will reveal the desired results. The ideal time to schedule a PicoWay Laser treatment is in autumn or winter to avoid sun exposure. However, you can have any treatments all year-round with a re-application of 30+ sunblock every 2 hours.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
Always brief us if you have a medical condition. Also always disclose the medications you take. Recently tanned skin cannot be treated. Avoid exposure to sunlight, tanning booths, and self-tanning skin care products for 2 weeks prior to your appointment and during the complete treatment period.
Are There Any Side Effects to a PicoWay® Resolve™ Treatment?
Some patients experience short-term effects such as redness for about 24 hours. Pigmented areas may also appear darker or lighter for the first week, but then return to your normal pigmentation colour. Darker spots peeling or flaking off the treatment site are a normal part of the process.
Please note we do not recommend this treatment for women who are pregnant or nursing. Remember, all patients are different. Results will vary.
