The Pico Laser targets all tattoo shades for all skin types. Our salon offers treatment for dark/light blue, brown, purple, red and green pigments. Yellow and white inks may behave less favourably initially. However, subsequent treatments usually provide improvement and resolution. Our technicians are experienced with laser tattoo removal and have developed techniques that allow accelerated treatment by combining multiple treatments in one visit.
IS TATTOO REMOVAL COMPLETED IN ONE TREATMENT?
Pico Laser takes 3-6 sessions, which are spaced over 4-8 weeks. The number of treatments will depend on the amount and type of ink used, as well as the depth of the ink in the skin. Sometimes, depending on your individual situation, you may need up to 10 sessions.
DO YOU OFFER LASER TATTOO REMOVAL ON COSMETIC INK ON THE FACE AND BODY?

IS TATTOO REMOVAL PAINFUL?
The Pico Laser device emits light in momentary flashes of light called pulses. The impact of the energy from the powerful pulse of light is like the snap of a thin rubber band with some associated heat. There is a far lower level of discomfort when compared to older tattoo removal technology. The large majority of patients do not require numbing and the post pain is very low to none.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER TATTOO REMOVAL?
The treated section may be a little red or swollen. Your skin may appear mildly sunburned, for up to five days. You may notice some bruising or blistering. Pinpoint bleeding is a possibility, and this is associated with certain types of colours, increased ink density, or specific skin types. However, this is purely superficial and heals well. An antibacterial ointment will be applied to the treatment area. Keep the treated area clean, with ointment supplied by the clinician.
You can take a shower, but please ensure that you keep the treated area clean and dry for 5-7 days. Also, do not scrub this area while your skin is in the healing stages. Quoted recovery times will depend on the extent of the treatment and your capacity to heal. Redness and skin sensitivity may continue for several weeks. You might notice skin discolouration and alterations to skin texture in the treated area, which will gradually improve. Results may not become apparent until we have completed several treatments, so please be patient.
Almost all clients are satisfied with the tattoo removal procedure with laser treatment. Please keep in mind that after tattoo removal, your skin may look different from how it looked prior to having the tattoo. We also offer free skin revision treatments to clients who have started their treatment with us in order to correct any textural changes.
WILL TATTOO REMOVAL CAUSE MY SKIN TO SCAR?
Using unique PicoWay technology, we only pulse the laser on the skin for a few Pico-seconds – this is equivalent to billionths of a second. This does not generate heat as older technology does. The PicoWay fragments ink into finer particles to start the fading process quickly. In the unlikely event that your skin is broken during the healing stages and results in any pain.
In rare cases, if skin textural changes occur, Plasma Fibro blasting or Skin Needling can return the skin to near to normal tone and appearance.
PRE AND AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS:
BEFORE THE PROCEDURE:
Keep out of the sun prior to your treatment and refrain from both sun and fake tanning. Ensure all wounds are healed prior to beginning your treatment and keep your skin free from make-up, dirt, chemicals and metallic dust. Full instructions will be given advice when booking in.
POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
Some clients may experience none of the following:
Day 1-2: Mild pain in the area, some swelling, bruising and or even redness.
From Day 3: You might develop bruising, itching, scabbing and dryness on and around the area.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Ink darkening, skin pigment changes, skin texture changes, and skin sensitivity are all potential side effects, but very rare. However, side effects are temporary or can be easily resolved. Symptoms are well-tolerated and only affect the treatment area itself. Our technicians will provide you with written aftercare instructions that highlight side effects to look out for.
